Paris Air Show (PAS) 2011 Case Study

Summary:

DB Systems provided bespoke AV systems and content, including augmented reality projects, for 220 individual projects spread between 23 clients. Such was the scale of DB’s work at the show that the company has had to use three 40ft sea containers to transport tens of thousands of pounds worth of equipment from the UK to the event. This included touchscreens, video walls, plasma screens, laptops, mixing desks and iPads.

This particular case study focuses on the work with GE Aviation.

The brief:

Provide the exhibitor, GE Aviation, with an interactive technology solution for its stand.

Objective:

Utilised augmented reality technology to help GE highlight the workings of an aircraft engine to event attendees.

Solution:

DB designed an augmented reality system that where by a glass screen, with cameras attached, could be moved over different sections of the full size engine, which was positioned on the stand.

When moved around the engine, DB designed the system so that the screen displayed computer generated engine information and images, superimposed on to the real world setting.

Result:

This solution allowed people to see the engine in operation, without it having to be actually switched on.

Client feedback:

“Very many thanks to you and all of the DB team in helping to make Paris Air Show the most successful show for GE Aviation to date. This was only possible thanks to the outstanding performance, long hours and commitment put in by DB Systems.”
