DB Systems are supplying The Jockey Club at Cheltenham Racecourse with a range of audiovisual products and services for the 2017-18 National Hunt season, including a large-scale installation of screens and management of the TV signal distribution around the racecourse for the upcoming Cheltenham Festival.
DB Systems Managing Director, David Bulley, was a key member of the DB team establishing our relationship with The Jockey Club: “We’re really pleased to be supplying Cheltenham with all their AV requirements. Here at DB, we work at many well-known events around the world—so to play an important part in such a prestigious event just down the road from our home in Tewkesbury is really special.”
DB Systems Technical Director, Graham Croucher, oversaw the planning and installation of the project: “Supplying Cheltenham is a really exciting project, we have a wide variety of AV kit in more than 20 temporary structures, across eight events during the season. The scale of the installations range from a number of large LED walls using our DigiLED 3.9mm LED panels in the Best Mate enclosure; to an array of over 500 smaller screens in viewing areas all around the site. We have 23 PA systems across the course, so that racegoers can hear, as well as see, the action. Connectivity will be achieved using a distribution system of fibre optic and Cat 5 ethernet cables—running IPTV, RF and audio signals to keep our kit up and running.”
Graham continued: “Projects of this nature are perfect for DB Systems, our team are very experienced at delivering AV services and connectivity at big, outdoor events which require a 100% uptime. Rather than simply replicate what the incumbent AV supplier was providing, we tailored our services to the client’s needs, including a week-long site visit last year to survey how best to use our technology to develop a system which will serve Cheltenham for the foreseeable future.”
David concluded: “Recently, DB Systems secured more and more work supplying sporting events with AV services, digital content and robust network solutions. From the Burghley Horse Trails, the National Hunt season at Cheltenham and the Six Nations rugby tournament; we are working in areas that we love and demonstrating why DB Systems are a market leader in the fields of AV & IT hire, digital content and network connectivity for events.”
