March saw the return of the Event Production Show (EPS) and International Confex at Olympia London - two major shows that feature in the diaries of most events professionals. Attendance at these shows is a yearly tradition for many, but what makes the 2016 EPS and International Confex events so newsworthy is the exponential growth recorded by both shows compared to just a year ago.
It seems that both the EPS and International Confex events tied up their two-day show with a massive 50% growth in floor space compared to 2015, as Access All Areas reports. Both these shows shared ground with the PA Show and EvenTech16. International Confex is the UK’s biggest events exhibition and EvenTech 16 is also the industry’s largest gathering of event tech exhibitors.
These well-known and highly respected events helped to draw the crowds, along with highlights such as panel discussions on topics like RFID and cashless technology, Eventice - an Apprentice-style competition for event management students, and a keynote speech from entrepreneur Lily Cole.
Cole noted: “There is a definite move towards experience over ownership. We need to share experiences more” - something event professionals are also picking up on and seeking to address.
The combination of EPS, International Confex, the PA Show and EvenTech 16 was a particularly valuable concept as it offered attendees access to the most inclusive exhibition experience in the market, as Exhibition News notes, providing information on every sector of the events industry.
Commenting on the passing of this year’s show, Liz Agostini - the event director of International Confex - said: “We’re really creating something here for the industry, it’s a great showcase of the very best of the industry and a massive injection of confidence and business in UK events.”
