Having been involved in a few projects at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) event, it was great to come across the news earlier this week that the influential show has recorded its highest ever visitor numbers. According to figures published on the Event Magazine website, MWC enjoyed the presence of a staggering 93,000 delegates this year – an increase of 8,000 people from the 2014 event.
The MWC was held at the beginning of the month and saw over 2,100 companies turn up and showcase their services and products to visitors from all over the world. Some of the influential brands present included Ericsson, Android and Ford, with keynote speakers from Nokia, Wikipedia and Huawei also giving their insights. One of the highlights from the event was a speech from Mark Zuckerberg – the founder of Facebook.
This year marked the tenth anniversary of the MWC; John Hoffman, the chief executive of GSMA stated: “It’s been a tremendously exciting show, with many major device launches, discussion and debate on the future of our industry and demonstrations of the cutting-edge products and services that customers are enjoying now and will experience in the future.”
Here at DB Systems we have been actively involved in the MWC for a few years; only last year we helped the telecommunications and mobile technology giant Motorola put together and shoot a video for their exhibition stand, and we also helped with IT and AV supplies, 2D and 3D graphics and numerous other offerings – in fact, we have been the official AV supplier for this show since 2007 and understand the sheer scale of the project.
As it continues to increase in size we can’t wait to see what the 2016 MWC has to offer and hope to really get involved in some of the new projects it will bring. We thought that one of the most innovative elements of the 2015 MWC was a ‘My MWC Event’ app especially developed for the show; but what particularly stood out for you in terms of the tech and engagement opportunities offered?
